National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2008

An Examination will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC), for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA for the 117th Course and Naval Academy for the 37th 10+2 (Executive Branch) course commencing from July, 2009.

Date of Examination : 17th August, 2008

Eligibility :
(a) Nationality : A candidate must either be
1. a citizen of India, or
2. a subject of Bhutan, or
3. a subject of Nepal, or
4. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

(b) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status : Only unmarried male candidates who must have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1990 and not later than 1st January, 1993 are eligible.

(c) Educational Qualifications :
1. For Army wing of National Defence Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
2. For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course at the Naval Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

(d) Physical Standards :
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2008.

(e) A candidate who has resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academics of Armed Forces is not eligible to apply.

How to Apply :
The application form along with an Information Brochure , an acknowledgement card and an envelope for sending the application will be obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees twenty only).

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned post Master or UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No. 011-23389366/FAX No. 011-23387310.

The duly filled in application form and the acknowledgement card should be mailed in the special envelope supplied with the Information Brochure. The candidate should also write the name of examination viz. 'National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination-(II), 2008' on the envelope before despatching it to 'Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069'. Candidates should mention their Tele/Fax Nos.
